    The size of a multimeter is very practical. It is very easy to change from multimeter to oscilloscope to wave generator. It is easy to use but in oscilloscope mode the select key is a bit difficult to get used to. Connecting the BNC probes is difficult there isn’t too much space for fingers.     Once you get the soldering iron up and running it’s a great piece of gear. However updating the firmware was a disaster at first – the update completely failed on a Mac. Use a Windows computer to update the firmware not a Mac! I was lucky to have an old Windows laptop to repair the firmware after the failed update.

    So far I have had a couple of shorter soldering sessions using this iron mostly working on handwired keyboard builds and I really like it! It’s lightweight yet feels made of quality materials. Handling and changing the settings is pretty intuitive and it heats up quite fast even when using only around 60% of the maximum power. The carrying case is handy my only gripe is that it doesn’t fit all 5 extra tips. I can definitely recommend this iron.

The bit selection is very good covering 95% of all jobs. One star deducted because the supplied 100W USB power brick is only supplied with an EU type plug which means I have to use a travel adapter for the UK.

    The mechanics and ergonomics are great. The unit is stout. There is too much info left out. There is no indication of the polarity on the barrel connector. You can use a laptop power brick to run it but if you don’t have the right voltage the unit won’t be in spec.
