UPDATE: Good news the clamp is compatible with 21700 – the lower tip is mounted on a fairly strong spring and you just need to apply a bit of pressure. The clamp is amazing and I even managed to test the tiny 10180 format. This meter is remarkable for its price and precision especially compared to a professional Fluke tool. It is highly precise when measuring internal resistance. The spring-loaded probe tips make measurements very comfortable though the short cable limits usability in some scenarios.

The HRM-10 is a great instrument for testing batteries but is almost useless without the battery holder accessory for small tubular batteries such as AA and AAA. The battery holder accessory needs refinements: the adjustable part needs to be on a rail to prevent rotation both probe points need to be spring loaded and the probes height from the base needs to be adjustable for various battery diameters.

I compared the tester results with a charger/tester and they gave very different results. The most dissatisfaction is the battery clamp designed for a large body battery like 18650. It is adjustable to the length of AA or AAA but the lack of support for a smaller body requires fine holding of the battery while adjusting the clamp position. The clamp adjustment via 2 screws means you cannot just push it in. It is a bad design on many points.

I have used this a number of times checking battery status and contact resistance. I especially like that it has a firmware update strategy that is compatible with my Mac. One confusing thing is that the Voltage and Resistance range settings seem to make no difference to the measurement – it would be helpful if FNIRSI would provide a technical explanation.

The HRM-10 is a different league from comparable products. Voltage and resistance readings are very repeatable. It reads down to 0.02 milliohms. Battery readings are also highly repeatable. Battery life seems quite good. My only disappointment is that it didn’t come with point contact probes so they had to be ordered separately.

The supplied user manual is barely adequate and should be vetted by actual users. I found lots of information on the Internet but it would have been nice and less frustrating to have essential and practical information in the printed manual.

Works fine at low cost. Bought it for checking EVE MB31 314Ah cells. Be sure to measure on the poles itself and not on the threaded studs.

First time ordering from FNIRSI. Everything went flawlessly. The meter measures perfectly and is more than accurate enough. The criticism I have read about fluctuating readings is understandable but unfounded – a measurement in the milliohm range can vary just from the contact pressure of the test leads on the device under test. I can only say: top product with good workmanship at a fair price. I would have paid a few euros more if a case had been included.
